What Is Inner Baptism?
In many religious traditions, baptism is an outer ritual using water. In Kriya Yoga, the baptism is internal — a conscious journey of the soul through the inner worlds, purified not by external water but by the fire of prana and the vibration of Om. This practice transforms the practitioner from within, awakening the divine potential that lies dormant in every human being.
The Journey Through the Lokas
During the practice of Om Kriya, the practitioner guides the energy upward through each of the seven Lokas:
Bhuloka — Earth
The practice begins at the Muladhara chakra, grounding the energy in the physical world while establishing conscious connection with the higher realms.
Bhuvarloka — Astral
The energy rises to the Svadhisthana, opening the doorway to the astral world and the realm of emotions and subtle perception.
Svarloka — Celestial
At the Manipura, the practitioner enters the celestial realms, experiencing the divine light and bliss that await beyond the physical.
Maharloka — Saintly
The Anahata chakra opens the realm of the saints and masters, where the practitioner feels the presence of the realised beings who guide humanity.
Janarloka — Creative
At the Vishuddha, the soul enters the realm of cosmic creation, perceiving the patterns and intelligences that shape manifestation.
Taparloka — Liberated
The Ajna chakra opens the world of liberated beings, where the distinction between self and the Divine begins to dissolve.
Satyaloka — Truth
At the Sahasrara, the soul reaches the realm of Absolute Truth — the state of complete unity with the Divine, beyond all worlds and all forms.
The Practice
Om Kriya is taught as part of the advanced Kriya techniques. It involves a specific combination of breathing, mantra, and visualisation that guides the practitioner through each plane. The practice should only be learned from an authorised teacher, as the subtleties of the technique require personal transmission.
The Result
Regular practice of Om Kriya gradually purifies the consciousness at every level, accelerating spiritual evolution and bringing the practitioner ever closer to the ultimate goal of Self-realisation.
