Why God Should Be Your Priority in Life
This is not a sermon about religion. It is a practical observation about the ordering of life. When the Divine is placed first, everything else falls into its proper place. When the Divine is forgotten, even the greatest…
What Does "God First" Mean?
To make God your priority does not mean abandoning your family, work, or responsibilities. It means that every action is offered to the Divine. Every relationship becomes an opportunity to love. Every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow. Every moment becomes sacred.
The Yogic Perspective
In the yoga tradition, this principle is expressed as Ishvara Pranidhana — surrender to the Supreme. It is one of the three pillars of Kriya Yoga. When we surrender our limited will to the Divine will, we are not diminished but empowered. We become instruments of a force far greater than our small ego.
In the Home
See your family as expressions of the Divine. Serve them not from obligation but from love. The home becomes a temple.
In Work
Offer your labour as service to the Divine. Work becomes worship. Success and failure are both accepted with equanimity.
In Practice
The daily Kriya practice is the anchor that keeps God first. It is the reminder, before the world takes over, of what truly matters.
The Fruits of Divine Priority
Fear Disappears
When you know you are held by the Divine, what is there to fear? Death, loss, and uncertainty lose their power over the mind.
Decisions Become Clear
When every choice is viewed through the lens of "what serves the Divine?", confusion gives way to clarity.
Life Becomes Meaningful
The mundane is transformed into the sacred. Every breath, every step, every encounter becomes an act of devotion.
Not Religion — Reality
This is not about adopting a belief system. It is about recognising what has always been true: that the Divine is the ground of all existence, including your own being. To make God your priority is simply to align yourself with reality as it is.
