The terrible battle that follows brings down Ravana’s champions — his giant brother Kumbhakarna and his sorcerer-son Indrajit — while the righteous Vibhishana, Ravana’s brother, joins Rama’s side. At last Rama slays Ravana, freeing the world of his tyranny, and rescues Sita. With Lakshmana and his companions, Rama returns in triumph to Ayodhya — the victory of dharma over adharma.

The story of the Yuddha Kanda
The Yuddha Kanda (“Book of War”) is the climax of the epic. Rama’s vanara army builds a great bridge of stones across the ocean to Lanka, and the mighty battle begins. One by one Ravana’s champions fall — among them his giant brother Kumbhakarna and his formidable son Indrajit.
At last Rama and Ravana meet, and Rama slays the demon-king, freeing the worlds from his tyranny. Reunited with Sita, Rama returns in triumph to Ayodhya, where he is at last crowned king — beginning the golden age of justice and peace remembered ever after as Rama Rajya.
